One of our favourite picks at the FantasySports.co.uk offices was once again on the score sheet in gameweek 8, as Theo Walcott continues his fantastic season. Alexis Sanchez picked up his third assist of the season, too; making us feel great about our selections.

Will both Gunners make our list this week? Let’s see as FantasySports.co.uk presents 5 magical midfielders for you Fantasy Premier League team in gameweek 9.

Theo Walcott – Arsenal

Games: 8; Goals: 5; Assists: 2; Total FPL points: 55

Theo Walcott is in the form of a lifetime. He currently leads all Fantasy Premier League players in points with 55, which is something few would have thought at the beginning of the season.

Walcott’s two goal performance against Swansea in gameweek 8 was his fifth consecutive game to score or get an assist. He has a hot hand right now, and is the most in-form player – other than teammate Sanchez – to get in your fantasy team.

Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal

Games: 8; Goals: 4; Assists: 3; Total FPL points: 54

Like Walcott, when a player is in-form, he has to be selected for your Fantasy Premier League team.

Last week, Sanchez picked up his third assist of the season when he set-up Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal are home to Middlesbrough on Saturday. Boro have lost four of their last five. Middlesbrough have given up nine goals during that run. Expect Arsenal to be on the attacking foot at home from the word ‘go’.

Joe Allen – Stoke City

Games: 8; Goals: 4; Clean sheets: 1; Total FPL points: 43

Joe Allen is playing some of the best football he has played during his career. In the last few weeks, Allen has shown he isn’t just a flash in the pan this season.

Last week against Sunderland, the Welshman tallied 16 points in a massive six-point affair. All four of his goals have come in Stoke’s last three fixtures, and he is powering their push up the table.

Stoke take on Hull City in gameweek 9. Hull have lost their last four matches, giving up 17 goals in the process. The Tigers’ defence is awful, so get Allen in your team.

Perhaps the best part of getting Allen for gameweek 9, is the midfielder still costs less than £5m.

Junior Stanislas – Bournemouth

Games: 5; Goals: 3; Assists: 2; Total FPL points: 41

Not the bargain that Allen currently is, Junior Stanislas is still a player accumulating points at a cost of £5.5m. Last week alone he scored 21 points as he tallied two goals and an assist.

Next up, however, is Tottenham. Spurs have the best defence of any team in the Premier League. Tottenham have only given up a mere four goals this term.

That said, Stanislas is a perfect addition to your Fantasy Premier League side coming off Bournemouth’s big win; and Spurs disappointing draw at West Brom. There could be an upset on the cards and Stanislas could play a big role.

Dele Alli – Tottenham

Games: 8; Goals: 3; Assist: 1; Total FPL points: 38

Dele Alli has scored in Spurs’ last two fixtures, including last week’s draw with West Brom. Costing just over £8m, the midfielder is playing very well in an excellent Tottenham side.

Gameweek 9’s opponents Bournemouth have never beaten Spurs. However, the southsiders are unbeaten in their last three. Spurs will have a game on their hands.

Alli will be Son Heung-Min’s main support on Saturday with Harry Kane out injured. Expect Alli to have plenty of chances to score or grab an assist as he plays further forward once again.

Bonus midfielder

James Milner – Liverpool

Games: 7; Goals: 4; Assists: 1; Clean sheets: 1; Total FPL points: 46

James Milner continues to play well for Liverpool as a left-back. The Englishman can play just about anywhere on the pitch. Milner only tallied three points against Manchester United in gameweek 8. Yet, the Liverpool talisman is better than that and should bounce back this week.

Milner’s form means he isn’t cheap at £6.7m. However, he should improve on last week’s performance as Liverpool host West Brom.
