The Mirror is reporting a player plus cash deal has been offered by Manchester City to Arsenal for Sanchez. It is understood that Sterling is the player Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have proposed for the deal.

Although Arsenal continues to state Sanchez is not for sale, Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool and the prospect of getting cash along with Sterling together, could prompt Arsene Wenger to act.

Reports have come out of Old Trafford that Manchester United have also entered the race to sign Sanchez. However, Wenger is adamant he will not sell the player to Jose Mourinho’s side. Reports in the last few days have indicated the Arsenal manager has possibly softened on selling Sanchez to City, however.

Although Sterling has started the season in good form, it cannot be denied his time at the Etihad has been met with more criticism after he arrived from Liverpool for £49 million. Wenger could see Sterling as a good replacement option for Sanchez, who could leave Arsenal for free next summer when his contract expires. The Gunners are set to sell winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea, and Sterling would fill the void of the winger’s exit.

A sensational Alexis Sanchez-Raheem Sterling deal could be scuppered by Sterling himself, who may prevent a deal from going through if he doesn’t want to leave City. A deal between the two clubs could rest on Sterling’s shoulders.
