Tottenham STILL HAVEN’T offered defender Toby Alderweireld new improved contract

Tottenham have not yet offered defender Toby Alderweireld a new and improved contract. However, according to the Daily Mail, the Belgian is happy with life at Spurs.

Alderweireld has become a star defender since joining Tottenham in 2015 from Atletico Madrid. Despite his great form for the club, Tottenham have not giving the big centre-back a new deal to keep him at the club long-term. His current contract expires in 2020, and several clubs have already been linked with the player.

Happy in North London

While some have speculated Alderweireld could seek a move away from Tottenham, the player has thrown cold water on any thoughts of him being unhappy.

“I had a good conversation with the manager,” the Belgian explained recently. “I told him I’m focused on football, to keep my game up and help the team. That’s all I can do. You can see I’m happy there, and I try to help the team, and that’s the way I always play football.”

Toby Alderweireld is in demand

In September, it was reported that Manchester City were interested in a move for Alderweireld. The defender is reportedly on £50,000-a-week, and according to the Guardian, he has no intention of signing a new contract if one is offered.

However, according to new sources, the Belgian’s salary is in fact £75,000-a-week. The figure makes Alderweireld one of the club’s highest earners, and it puts him above star striker Harry Kane. The Tottenham striker has been linked with a move away of late as well.

According to the source, Moussa Sissoko is actually the club’s highest paid player at the club on £95,000-per-week.
