Chelsea to land Premier League star

Speculation is rife that Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez is looking to leave the King Power Stadium, with Chelsea being very keen on bring the want-away Premier League star to Stamford Bridge.

Mahrez shot to stardom as he excelled throughout Leicester City’s jaw dropping march to the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season, scoring 17 goals and gaining 11 assists in just 37 appearances.

The Algerian player’s production slipped last season though as Leicester struggled to reach the standards of their title winning year. A return of 6 goals and 3 assists will not put off many clubs though, who will feel they can return the 2015 PFA Players Player of the Season to his very best form.

Arsenal are also monitoring the situation, with manager Arsene Wenger openly admiring the player and declaring an interest after Mahrez thanked Leicester fans for their support after their closing game of the 2016/17 season.

But Chelsea now appear to be the favourites to sign the fleet footed forward, with Champions League football a huge incentive for Mahrez to join the defending EPL Champions.

With Diego Costa looking likely to leave the Bridge, Chelsea will be looking for attacking options to retain the goals Costa will be taking with him. Romelu Lukaku looks most likely to fill that particular void and at FantasySports.co.uk, we think that a Hazard and Mahrez midfield combination would be very well positioned to provide Lukaku with service fit for the Kings Road as Conte looks to defend his Premier League title.

Elsewhere, Chelsea’s £45m bid For Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne has been deemed too low by the Italian club.
