Daniel Sturridge to join Paris Saint-Germain

Liverpool legend Jason McAteer has been discussing Daniel Sturridge with the Mirror this morning and he believes the injury prone Liverpool forward should join French giants, PSG, in the summer.

McAteer was quoted as saying:

“I have heard West Ham want to sign him, but my personal opinion is that Daniel would thrive at somewhere like PSG.Playing with superstars like Edinson Cavani and Angel di Maria would suit his game. In France, he would also be out of the constant spotlight. The stumbling block would be the fee and whether Liverpool get the £40m they want for him, which remains to be seen. It could depend on Ronaldo. If he left Madrid, I’m certain he would join PSG – and that would rule out them moving for Sturridge. But, whatever happens, the time is right for Daniel to move.”

Whether Jurgen Klopp would want to see Sturridge leave the Reds in the summer window is open to interpretation, but he would certainly want to add one or two senior striking additions, prior. Klopp has had good news in the return to training of Danny Ings, who possesses many of the qualities that the Liverpool boss likes to see in his forward three. Ings has looked sharp in the opening days of training at Melwood and there is no doubt his pace, pressing ability and keen eye for goal would be a welcome addition to the squad. There’s every chance we will see Ings get a run out in Liverpool’s opening friendly of the summer, against Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday evening.

As for Sturridge, while it’s impossible to argue that he has under delivered in recent seasons, there is no doubting his quality in front of goal and the value that would be retained should he return to peak fitness.
