Odds have tumbled today with speculation rife that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is about to spend close on £50 million to land want away star Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.
Sky Bet are offering now just 2/1 that Mahrez becomes Chelsea’s next signing and is done before the summer transfer window slams shut in England on August 31st.
Mahrez has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium across the summer, with AS Roma always favourites to sign the Algerian international – but no move has come to fruition, as Leicester have stood firm in their valuation of Mahrez, with no club being able to reach agreement with the Foxes or match the price wanted.
But Chelsea do not have those issues, and Conte still wants to add depth and strength to his squad – even with the likes of Eden Hazard to come back from injury.
Mahrez has played both Premier League games for Leicester City and has not looked disinterested, getting two assists in the 5 goals they have scored so far, but he maintains his desire to move and start the next phase of his career, with Leicester unable to match his ambition despite their amazing Premier League campaign of 2015/16 and excellent adventure in last seasons Champions League.
Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with Mahrez but all have their own issues preventing them from really making a move for the fleet footed winger….leaving the transfer door open for Chelsea to swoop and get him to Stamford Bridge before it closes until January.
