Liverpool legend slams Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal departure

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has slammed former Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez following his departure for Manchester United.

In Fowler’s recent Mirror article, the former Liverpool striker wrote about Sanchez’s disrespectful behaviour toward the Gunners. Fowler believes Sanchez’s former teammates will not go kindly on him when the two sides meet next.

Sanchez finally got his move away from Arsenal after trying to force through a transfer last July. In Fowler’s Mirror column, the former player wrote about Sanchez’s stroppy behaviour and compared it to his own at Liverpool:

“It was always because I was desperate to play, though, and I dislike intensely the way Sanchez has looked as if he hated playing for Arsenal at times. That was disrespectful to his team-mates and those who paid him massive wages.”

Liverpool legend Fowler also wrote about Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believing he can control the big egos in the club’s dressing room. In Fowler’s opinion, Mourinho has bigger egos to tame at Old Trafford than Sanchez’s.

Sanchez isn’t the first player that Manchester United has bought from Arsenal in recent years. Robin van Persie traded in Arsenal for Manchester United in 2012 and led the side to the Premier League title.

Arsenal started life without Sanchez well on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace. Arsenal scored all four goals within the opening 22 minutes into the game.

Arsenal were able to add creative midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan as Sanchez’s replacement. The club is in a much better position than it could have been.
