The one player Liverpool would love to have from each of their Premier League rivals

Here we take a fanciful look at our idea of which player from each of Liverpool FC’s main Premier League rivals they would love to have in their already talented squad, being Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea.

MANCHESTER CITY – NICOLAS OTAMENDI (CB)

Yes, it would be easy to say De Bruyne, Silva or Aguero – but we are looking to raid the rich City back line to help plug the shaky Liverpool defence and provide a perfect ally for Virgil Van Dijk. We love Otamendi, who has been a virtual ever present in the miserly City defence and been rock solid in the process. Four goals on the season also we cannot ignore which is invaluable from centre half. In a team full of attacking superstars, Otamendi has been Mr Dependable for City and a similar job at Anfield would be just ideal for the Reds.

MANCHESTER UNITED – DAVID DE GEA (GK)

This one is quite a no brainer – whilst Loris Karius has done a decent job between the sticks recently after assuming the No. 1 shirt from Simon Mignolet, Liverpool fans will be well aware that they have long been in need, and would still love, a genuine world class keeper. No one would fit the bill better than De Gea, who has been inspirational for Manchester United and would certainly keep the points that previous Reds goalkeepers had spilled. De Gea is well in the argument for the current worlds best goalkeeper….we are certain he would be the one from hated rivals United that Liverpool fans would take in a heartbeat.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – HARRY KANE (FW)

How could Liverpool resist not having Kane? As great a forward corps as Liverpool have, you have to imagine that Kane would only enhance that and quickly become a darling of the Kop with the goals that would inevitably follow. Whilst Firmino has done very well as Liverpool’s out and out forward, no one could deny that Kane would be an upgrade and the potency he could bring, whilst linking up equally as technically and physically with Salah and Mane, would give Liverpool a front three on par with any domestic club around.

CHELSEA – N’GOLO KANTE (DM)

Again, we can overlook the likes of Hazard, Willian, Morata and Co for a real need that we think would plug into the Liverpool team just beautifully. Step forward N’Golo Kante, who after bursting onto the scene at Leicester, and playing a pivotal role in their stunning Premier League title success, has been equally of a high standard at Chelsea. Put him into the Liverpool midfield as their defensive minded enforcer with what is ahead of him, and Liverpool would be not far short of the ideal midfield set up. No nonsense but simple football is what he does best – and would suit the Reds down to a tee.

As said….very fanciful….but we are sure many a Liverpool fan has imagined ‘what if he played for us’….and whilst these may or may not be the best players from their current teams, we do think these are the best fits for Liverpool as they currently stand.
