Tottenham face major injury issues as Liverpool goalkeeper suffers injury in training

Lloris suffered a thigh injury prior to Spurs’ last Premier League match. That ended in a 2-1 loss to Watford. Meanwhile, Alli suffered a hamstring injury during international duty with England.

Pochettino has also confirmed Moussa Sissoko will miss Saturday’s clash with Liverpool. The French midfielder has been out of action for much of the season.

“Dele suffered a small injury after 20 minutes of the game against Spain at Wembley,” Pochettino said.

“I am disappointed because we are maybe going to miss him for this game and maybe the Champions League game against Inter Milan.”

Tottenham are also unsure if Heung-Min Son will be available for the match at Wembley. The Korean striker has just returned from international duty but isn’t ready to play yet.

Spurs did receive good news regarding Son’s mandatory Korean military duty. The striker’s service has been waved due to his international football performances with the national team. Korea’s gold medal win at the Asian Games means Son is now exempt of service.

Tottenham are not the only team sweating injuries heading into Saturday’s lunchtime match. Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet suffered an injury on international duty which will rule him out.

On Tuesday, third-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher sustained a calf injury. Kelleher collided with Divock Origi and will now miss a month of action.

Polish youth international Kamil Grabara will be on Liverpool’s bench for Saturday’s match. Grabara could play in the fixture if Alisson Becker sustains an injury. The 19-year-old has been described as “fearless” by those who have watched him play previously.

Liverpool have been installed as the favourites according to major sportsbooks. Although Tottenham have only won one of their last six against Liverpool, Spurs took four of six points from the Reds last term. Their last meeting a Wembley resulted in a Tottenham 4-1 win.
