Underrated Brighton forward an ideal addition for GW 11

Brighton forward Neal Maupay has flown under the Premier League and Fantasy Premier League radars this season. The summer addition from Brentford has bagged four goals and 40 FPL points in just 690 minutes of Premier League football.

Maupay averages a league goal every 172.5 minutes on the pitch and goes into gameweek 11 against a Norwich City defence that continues to be torched by opposing attacks. The 23-year-old Frenchman is an ideal addition for gameweek 11 as the Canaries come to the Amex Stadium.

Brighton forward ready to score

Maupay joined Brighton in the summer from Brentford where he excelled as a striker in the EFL Championship. He struck the back of the net 28 times in 49 games in all competitions in 2018-19. Maupay’s performances in front of goal piqued the interest of newly promoted Aston Villa who initially showed interest in Maupay.

However, the Villains were beaten to the punch by Brighton as manager Graham Potter had seen the striker while coaching Swansea in the Championship.

The Villains could really use a striker of Maupay’s abilities currently. Aston Villa average 1.5 goals a game and are rivalling Brighton at the bottom of the table.

The Brighton forward has scored twice in his last three Premier League matches. Maupay has tallied 17 FPL points in his last three fixtures for an average of 5.7 points a game.

Maupay worth a punt

While Maupay’s FPL points haul of 40 is modest, he has only played 80 or more minutes five times this season, it is his price that makes him an ideal addition. Maupay costs just £6 million and is a bargain heading into gameweek 11. It is a bargain that FPL managers need to accent their more expensive talent and Maupay can be that bargain this weekend.

Lining up across from Maupay will be Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki. Over 167,000 FPL managers have sold Pukki this week already after five matches without a goal. Maupay offers manager a rising forward that costs £0.9m less.

Maupay is currently second in FPL points for Brighton. He is only behind goalkeeper Mathew Ryan who has 42 FPL points after 10 gameweeks.

Is Maupay your points answer at forward in FPL? No, he isn’t, but Maupay does offer value for price and is worth the punt for gameweek 11 against a struggling Norwich City.
